Ahmad assists in the molecular biology lab. Ahmad and Orsalem use a variety of techniques to gather genetic data and test for genetic function. These including genotyping and high-throughput sequencing on the Illumina platform, cellular constructs that isolate and test for function of genetic variants and in vitro assays of DNA-protein interaction.
Stephanie uses in silico approaches to identify causal variants underlying the variants identified in genome-wide association studies (GWAS). Currently she is working on a Colorectal Cancer (CRC) study with the collaboration of Drs. Coetzee (USC), Peters (FHCRC), Duggan (TGen), and Craig (TGEn) using resources provided by all Colon Cancer Family Registry (CFR) centers.
