Welcome to the Headley Lab. Our goal is to understand how dynamic interactions at the level of individual cells influence disease. We currently are focused on understanding how cells of the immune system participate in the process of lung metastasis of cancer (the spread of tumor cells from primary cancer sites to the lung). Distinct immune populations play opposing roles in this disease, variably acting to support or defend against metastasis dependent on the cell type, we are using cutting edge methods such as intravital lung microscopy and single cell RNAseq to understand the dynamic interactions in vivo that underlay this complex biology.
