The Overbaugh lab, led by Julie Overbaugh, has a long-standing interest in understanding the mechanisms of HIV-1 transmission and pathogenesis. We are primarily basic scientist, but we aim to make our studies as relevant as possible to efforts to stop the spread of HIV. The lab is part of a larger team, comprising researchers in both Seattle and Kenya. Trainees in the lab have opportunities to engage in studies of viral evolution, virus-host cell interactions, and viral immunology all within the context of international collaboration.
