Welcome to the Loggers Sarcoma Lab, a part of the Seattle Translational Tumor Research (STTR) group. STTR is a multi-disciplinary research community comprised of investigators from Fred Hutch Cancer Center, UW Medicine, and Seattle Children’s. At Fred Hutch, we are headed by Elizabeth Loggers, MD, PhD, who serves as the Clinical Research Director for Sarcoma.
Sarcoma is a rare cancer of the bones and soft tissue, arising anywhere in the body, at any age.
Through key basic science partnerships, Dr. Loggers is leveraging novel immunotherapy approaches to cancer treatment and applying these insights to sarcoma. Active efforts are underway to develop CAR-T therapies in patients with Ewing sarcoma (STEAP1) and Osteosarcoma (FOLR1).
In addition to these investigator-initiated trials, Dr. Loggers is the site PI for many industry sponsored clinical trials at Fred Hutch.
Sarcoma is a complex cancer. There are many different sub-types of sarcoma, and each sub-type (e.g. leiomyosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma) requires a different care pathway. At the cellular or molecular level, what this means is that discovery and innovation to improve therapy options have to be conducted at the level of each sarcoma sub-type. Scientific discovery, for example, in osteosarcoma doesn’t necessarily translate to discovery in fibrosarcoma. Since sarcoma is a rare disease among all cancer types, and since understanding sarcoma at the level of each sub-type is crucial to developing new treatment options, we have a lot of hard work to do! Your financial support of our mission to improve treatment outcomes for patients with sarcoma is gratefully and wholeheartedly appreciated.
The Sarcoma Service at Fred Hutch is a multi-disciplinary team of oncology surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists and interventional radiologists, as well as advance practice providers, nurses, and schedulers dedicated to curing sarcoma. We are supported by a wide-range of supportive care clinicians. Patients or family interested in a second opinion or to seek care at Fred Hutch should contact our Sarcoma Nurse Navigators to schedule a consultation.
We welcome opportunities to discuss research partnerships with academic and industry collaborators. Fred Hutch, University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Cancer Consortium is structured to provide and enable research across our institutions in order to provide the best possible access for patients.
