The Vasioukhin laboratory at Fred Hutch has a long-standing interest in understanding the mechanisms of normal tissue homeostasis, transformation, tumor progression and metastasis. The laboratory focuses on mouse prostate gland epithelium and skin epidermis as primary in vivo research model systems. It is also extensively using primary human organoid cultures. The laboratory employs a combination of mouse genetic, molecular, and microscopic methods to uncover the mechanisms underlying cancer initiation and progression, as well as to explore new avenues for therapeutic treatments.
