Our Research

Welcome to the Adair Lab. We are headed by Jennifer E. Adair, Ph.D., at the Fred Hutch, and we are part of the Program in Transplantation Biology and the Seattle Gene Therapy Group. Our research uses a combination of cell biology, molecular biology, chemistry, engineering, nanomedicine and bioinformatics to develop new gene therapy treatments for many different diseases, including cancer. Our ultimate goal is to develop safe, cost-effective, and clinically relevant applications for gene therapy that can be implemented worldwide.

Focus Areas

We work in the following areas of research:

  • Hematopoietic (blood) cell engineering
  • Translational science to make cell engineering portable
  • Nonviral methods for cell engineering
  • Genetic and phenotype analysis of engineered blood cells

We also support other labs in the following areas:

  • Translation of laboratory protocols into clinical protocols for blood cell engineering
  • Gene modified cell tracking in vitro and in vivo
