2023
- September 2023: Nina Marie Garcia successfully defended her dissertation "Understanding the Molecular Mechanisms that Lead to Tumor Recurrence and Acquired Drug Resistance in Cancer." Congratulations Dr. Garcia, we're all so proud of you!

- August 2023: Shyanne, James, Yasemin, and Kelley ran the 5k for Obliteride! We braved the heat and had a great time :)

- August 2023: Catherine Shokralla, our summer SURP student from UCLA, presented her poster titled "Role of Nrf2 in Breast Cancer Metastasis." Great job Catherine, we loved having you in the lab!

- June 2023: Shyanne King officially joined the lab as our newest graduate student. Welcome Shyanne, we're so happy to have you!

- May 2023: Brock left the lab to start as a Research Scientist at the David Rawlings Lab at Seattle Children's Research Institute. Congratulations Brock, we'll miss you!
- January 2023: We're very excited to welcome Yasemin Ceyhan as a new postdoc in the lab!
2022
- July 2022: Jess Becerra and Kelley McCutcheon joined the lab as research techs. Welcome Jess and Kelley!

- January 2022: Ashley's paper "APOBEC Mutagenesis Inhibits Breast Cancer Growth through Induction of T cell–Mediated Antitumor Immune Responses" was published in Cancer Immunology Research. Congrats to Ashley and her coauthors!
2021
- August 2021: The lab successfully moved across the country, from Durham, North Carolina to sunny Seattle, Washington! Big thanks to Nina, Brock, Ashley and Rachel for help with the move!
- July 2021: Rachel Newcomb successfully defended her dissertation, “Exploring the functional consequences of whole-genome duplication in tumor progression.” Rachel will be starting a postdoc at RTI International in September.
- July 2021: Ashley DiMarco successfully defended her dissertation, “APOBEC Mutagenesis as a Driver of Tumor Evolution through Genetic Heterogeneity and Immunogenicity.” Congrats to Ashley on a terrific body of work! Keep your eyes open for some papers from Ashley in the next couple of months. We wish Ashley the best as she starts her new position as a Principal Scientific Researcher at Genentech.

- June 2021: Rachel’s paper “Context-dependent effects of whole-genome duplication during mammary tumor recurrence” was published in Scientific Reports. Congrats to Rachel and her coauthors!
2020
- September 2020: Doug successfully defended his dissertation, “Metabolic Adaptations in Tumor Recurrence.” Doug will be starting a postdoc in Daniel Haber’s lab at Mass General Cancer Center.
- July 2020: Nina Marie Garcia was awarded an HHMI Gilliam Fellowship. Congratulations Nina!
