Welcome to the Helicobacter pylori G27 Mutant Library
This library of mutant strains was created to provide a community resource for genetic analysis of H. pylori by the research community through making a strain copy in the G27 strain background of an ordered deletion mutant library described in PMID: 31036730.
How to search and request mutants
The Mutant Library is displayed through Open Specimen where you can view detailed information on each of the G27 mutant strains. You can search for genes by G27 locus ID by:
1. Select the field on the left side panel then enter the desired locus ID number in both the min and max fields to find a single locus.
2. Select the mutants you wish to request and input your info for an order as if you were shopping online.
This library is intended for research use only and we ask that you provide the name of your institution and reason for use to facilitate strain sharing. Please note that by default we will ship you the H. pylori strain as a stab. If you would like genomic DNA so that you can transfer the mutations to a different strain background, or if you need a frozen culture please indicate this in the additional comments field and we will follow up directly to see if we can accommodate your request.
Shipping and Strain Recovery
We ship live H. pylori at room temperature, recoverable for up to 5 days in the form of what we call a “stab”. A stab is a 15mL conical with 5mL of blood agar solidified at the bottom into which we stab a cotton swab with H. pylori. This method provides low cost of shipping with no need for dry ice or refrigeration as well as buffer time for any shipping delays.
Upon arrival of stabs, remove the swab with H. pylori from the conical tube, swab directly onto blood agar plates and allow growth for a few days in microaerophilic conditions. If you would like to request a detailed growth protocol, please indicate so in the additional comments field.
Cost (Shipping Only)
The receiving party is responsible for the cost of shipping. We ask that you provide a FedEx account number so that we can directly bill the cost of shipping through FedEx (in the indicated field). We may be able to accommodate alternative arrangements upon request.

Creation of this library was made possible through generous funding from the FIRST Foundation project titled “Building a pipeline to communicate and enhance studies of bacterial disease”. We also thank Fred Hutch Office of Translational Research for Open Specimen support.
