Development of Measures to Screen for Financial Hardship in Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia

Summary

Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD) are prevalent, especially considering the aging population, that cause significant burdens for people diagnosed and their families. Financial hardship, including financial strain, stress, and depletion of personal assets might be among the issues that these families are experiencing. Despite the the devastating impact of financial hardship on patients with AD/ADRD and their families, no effective screening tool has been validated to assess this problem. This study aims to address this gap by development and validation of measures tailored to the specific needs of individuals living AD/ADRD and their caregivers.
