Prostate Cancer Research Program

The Fred Hutch/University of Washington Program in Prostate Cancer Research (PPCR) comprises 42 investigators with research programs focused on understanding, preventing and treating prostate cancer. There is a diverse array of model systems, clinical studies, and population-based approaches taken.

The PPCR meets every Thursday at 5pm-6pm for a seminar series presenting recent cutting edge prostate cancer research with local and invited speakers.

Coming Soon - Seminar Schedule

PNW Prostate Cancer SPORE

The PPCR is anchored by an NCI Specialized Program in Research Excellence (SPORE) designated the Pacific Northwest Prostate Cancer SPORE. The SPORE provides biospecimen and biostatistical support to investigators as well as support for developmental (pilot) projects and career development.

The Institute for Prostate Cancer Research (IPCR)

The PPCR spans population science, basic and translational investigation, and clinical research at Fred Hutch and the University of Washington. Philanthropic support is critical for making advances that impact our understanding of prostate cancer and achieving cures. Support for our research is provided by our generous community of donors. Philanthropic support is organized through the Institute of Prostate Cancer Research (IPCR) that ensures donations are put toward the most impactful research. An annual ‘Report to the Community’ is organized through the IPCR to provide updates on the latest advances.

Brotman Baty Institute (BBI)

UW Medicine, The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Seattle Children’s have co-founded The Brotman Baty Institute to accelerate both the basic sciences of precision medicine and the delivery of benefits to patients. The Institute is made possible by the generosity of Jeff and Susan Brotman, and Dan and Pam Baty.

Seattle Translational Tumor Research (STTR)

Seattle Translational Tumor Research (STTR) is a multidisciplinary and multi-organizational effort of physicians and scientists from Fred Hutch, UW Medicine and SCCA. The primary goal is to translate laboratory sciences into the most precise treatment options for patients with blood, lymphatic and solid tumor cancers.
