Walker uses statistical modeling and bioinformatics to analyze multi-omic data and better understand how the immune system responds to rebounding virus. Originally from New York City, he moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. Outside of work, he enjoys watching movies and traveling.

Natalia studies immune responses in people living with HIV undergoing analytical treatment interruption. Her work uses multi-parameter flow cytometry and RNA sequencing to characterize these responses. Outside the lab, she enjoys experimental work, kickboxing, music, and cooking.

Wenjie is a senior bioinformatician in the Cohn Lab who provides bioinformatics support and develops web applications and software pipelines for viral sequencing analyses. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and fishing.

Anna studies the immune response to rebounding HIV viremia. Their dissertation combines multi-omic analysis, viral sequencing, and statistical modeling to understand how some people living with HIV control rebound viremia. They are passionate about HIV cure research, research-based community-led activism, rock climbing, hiking, and watercolor painting.

Nathaniel is an MD/PhD student in the Cohn Lab interested in understanding the immune response to HIV, particularly the mechanisms that allow a small subset of people to suppress the virus without medication. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Cornell University. Outside of work, he enjoys triathlons and other endurance sports, skiing, and spending time with his dog, Fig.

Ashley is a PhD student in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Program at the University of Washington and earned her bachelor’s degree from Whitman College. She is enthusiastic about science communication and education, and outside of work she enjoys dancing, baking, spending time outdoors, and playing with her dog.

Toby graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in cell and molecular biology. She studies HIV proviral reservoir dynamics in people living with HIV and is passionate about scientific communication and accessibility. Outside of work, she is a ceramicist and enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her ball python, Asmodeus.

Dylan is an experienced molecular biologist who employs and develops PCR and sequencing strategies to characterize viral infections. When he's not in the lab, he can be found chasing his kids around outdoors.

Ellen is an undergraduate intern in the Cohn Lab who uses ddPCR assays to quantify viral DNA. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, hiking, and climbing.

Thuy is the research administrator of the Cohn Lab. She manages the full life cycle of grants and contracts, including pre- and post-award activities, and oversees agreements and financial matters for the lab. When she first came to the United States, it was on Halloween, which made for a memorable introduction

Suly oversees lab operations, including budgeting, safety compliance, inventory management, and day-to-day organization. Her work helps ensure the research team can stay focused on its scientific goals.

Monica manages Dr. Cohn’s calendar and leads administrative support for the Cohn Lab, keeping meetings, events, and day-to-day operations running smoothly. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family and friends, reading, and cooking.

Sal is the Cohn Lab’s Chief Morale Officer and resident Labradoodle, dedicated to boosting team spirits and enforcing mandatory petting breaks. When he’s not inspecting snack quality, he is on neighborhood patrol, bravely chasing squirrels and bunnies and reminding everyone that he is, in fact, the goodest boy.
