Cecilia Martin

Title: Research Technician, 2018-2022

Cecilia is a recent graduate from the University of Washington where she received degrees in both Biochemistry and Chemistry. During her time at UW, she participated in research with Dr. Alshakim Nelson, studying the synthesis and characterization of stimuli-responsive polymeric materials for use in 3D bio-printing applications. After college, she traveled across Europe for four months and found that her favorite cities to explore were Budapest, Galway, Paris, and Prague. While traveling she began to read books by famous neurologists, her favorite novel was The River of Consciousness by Oliver Sacks, and it drew her towards neuroscience research. As Research Technician in Dr. Singhvi’s lab, she now gets to explore the field of molecular and cellular neuroscience by studying Glia cells in C. elegans worms.

In her free time, Cecilia enjoys exploring Seattle, dog friendly breweries, and practicing yoga.
