James recently graduated from Whitman College with a B.A. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology, with minors in Psychology, and Classical Studies. His previous scientific research, under the direction of Dr. Jon Collins, investigated the activity and specificity of non-native substrates of benzoate dioxygenase using quantitative NMR spectroscopy. Now he has joined the Singhvi lab to study the molecular neuroscience of glia-neuron interactions. 

In his free time, James loves to read ancient Greek and Roman literature, crafting undiscovered cocktails, and throwing a frisbee at the park with friends.
