Pralaksha Gurung graduated from Colby College in 2016. She majored in Biology with a concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology/Biochemistry and minored in Anthropology and Chinese. During her undergraduate studies, she worked with Syed Tariq Ahmad to understand the role of CHMP2B protein in the development of Drosophila melanogastor wing. She moved to Seattle to join John Tuthill's lab at the University of Washington where she studied different proprioceptor classes in the Drosophila leg to understand neural code of sensorimotor integration. She decided to join the UW Neuroscience Graduate Program to pursue her interests in understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying sensorimotor integration. In the Singhvi lab, Pralaksha plans on studying how different glia can modulate the structure and function of a single sensory circuit.
Outside of research, she is an avid reader and knitter. She enjoys camping and hiking in the summer, and she’s most likely to spend time hanging out with her cats at home for most of winter.
