Monet grew up in Los Angeles, California and spent seven years in San Francisco, California before moving to the Pacific Northwest. She received her bachelor's degree in Cellular Molecular Biology (CMB) and Health Education and her Master’s degree in CMB from San Francisco State University. There she worked in Dr. Diana Chu’s lab studying important fertility factors during male meiosis. She was interested in how the histone variants HTAS-1 and HTZ-1 modulate DNA accessibility and differentially regulate transcription during spermatogenesis.

She joined the Bai lab in 2019 for her PhD work and is now currently engrossed in understanding the molecular features that maintain neuronal integrity. When not in lab, Monet enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, traveling to a new place, seeking live shows, finding new eateries, and petting other people’s dogs.
